Roberta Isleib, a clinical psychologist, writes under the name of the Lucy Burdette. She has published 16 mysteries, including the latest in the Key West food critic series, Death on the Menu. Her books and stories have been short-listed for Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards.

She’s a member of Mystery Writers of America and a past president of Sisters in Crime, which was founded in 1987 to promote the ongoing advancement, recognition, and professional development of women crime writers.

Oline Cogdill of the Sun-Sentinel said, “Relations — and history — between the U.S. and Cuba fuels this light, but well-plotted culinary mystery. While politics aren’t usually associated with amateur sleuths, author Lucy Burdette adeptly handles the serious aspects of her eighth novel while keeping the overall tone light in Death on the Menu. And this being a culinary mystery, Burdette also includes some mouth-watering recipes.”

“There’s a lot to love about this series — deft plotting, likable characters, and an ending that always satisfies. But one of the things I love the best is how the author transports her readers to Key West with every page, describing real landmarks and restaurants with such realism that I feel I’m actually there. Magical and delicious fun!” wrote Susan Santangelo of Suspense Magazine.

Isleib says the work of the detective in a mystery has quite a bit in common with long-term psychotherapy. Start with a problem, follow the threads looking for clues, and gradually fill in the big picture

The ninth book in the series, A Deadly Feast, will be released by Crooked Lane Books in May.

She blogs with other crime fiction writers at JungleRedWriters.com and MysteryLoversKitchen.com. She and her husband divide their time between Connecticut and Key West.

Admission is free and seating begins at 5:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis with the program starting promptly at 6:00 p.m.
