Jennifer Brody is the author of the the Continuum series of young adult novels: The 13th Continuum, Return of the Continuums and The United Continuums. The 13th Continuum was a Gold Medal Winner from the Independent Publisher‘s Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards.

The books have been described as recommended not only for advanced teen readers, but for adults who enjoy solid sci-fi dystopian settings.

Brody is a graduate of Harvard University, a creative writing instructor at the Writing Pad, and a board member for the non-profit Roswell Award and the Tomorrow Prize.

After studying film at Harvard University, she began her career in Hollywood. Highlights include working for Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema, most notably on The Lord of the Rings, The Golden Compass, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. She also produced the feature film Make It Happen starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Tessa Thompson for The Weinstein Company.

“Brody...has a talent for telling a story of dystopian young adult fiction. She just gets it; she understands that readers don’t just want another post-apocalyptic tale of survival, but that the book needs characters that can hold up against the bleak and hopeless setting, turning it from nothing to something that is full of life and hopeful. It’s the characters that bring completeness to this novel,” wrote Alexis Helms in the Roanoke times.

Victor LaValle said, “The 13th Continuum manages to be smart, surprising, and a good time, all at once. That’s hard magic to pull off, but Jennifer Brody makes it seem easy. Swift and surprising, this novel is such a confident debut. Here’s to many more.”

Brody is in Key West for a residency at The Studios of Key West. She lives in Los Angeles with her dog, Commander Ryker.
