Two of the ways the Friends support the Key West Library are through book sales in the Library's Palm Garden and through ongoing book sales within the library building at 700 Fleming Street. Every dollar raised during the sales goes directly back to your library.
Among the items represented are mysteries, cookbooks, first editions, bestsellers, children's books, magazines and more. Items include a wide variety of library donations and discards, with most priced to sell at a dollar or less. "Specials"—books in particularly good condition—are sold for a fraction of their cover price.
Volunteers also assist at the book sales. If you would like more information about volunteering, please click here.
The library is always pleased to receive donated books. Gently used hardcover books and paperbacks, children's books and DVDs can be dropped off at the library circulation desk at any time during open hours.
BOOKS TO SHIPS
Donated books also benefit the Friends of the Library's Books to Ships Program. This program provides books for the crews of United States Coast Guard and Navy ships operating out of Key West. More than 900 books went to 25 different ships during this past year. Friends of the Library thanks the citizens of Key West for this support of our country's men and women in military service.
